CHENNAI: A total of 14.31% polling was recorded in
Tamil Nadu till 9am after the voting for the 16 Lok Sabha began at 7am on Thursday .
Karur recorded 18% polling, which is the highest in the state. The lowest voter turnout was recorded at Arakonam where 8% polling was recorded
North Chennai registered 12% voting while South Chennai recorded 10% polling and Central Chennai reported 11% polling
"Because of a lot of vehicle checks, it has been a slow start.
We hope it will pick up as the day goes," said chief election commissioner
Praveen Kumar.
He said the Election Commission recorded problems in more 200 EVMs in the state. "Most of them have been rectified. There were some technical issues with linking them to the system," he said.
